I found her writing another letter to Mark.
I thought when we moved away, she’d let him go and we’d get our marriage back on track, but that’s not the way it worked out. She still missed him, she still wrote him, she still called him all the time (and in those days, that meant long-distance phone bills).
She said, “sweetie… I’ve got a big favor to ask you…”

I took several pictures, she picked one and wrote “WISH YOU WERE HERE!” on it, and put it in the envelope with her letter.
A month later he came to visit… she was so excited… he spent four nights sleeping in that bed with her, on those same sheets…
A few months later, he was back, staying with us “just until he finds a place here”.
He’s still here. She sleeps between us every night. Two of the kids are his.
This is definitely not the marriage I thought I had signed up for, but it didn’t take me too long to adjust, and we’re all happy with it now…
